Have you ever wondered what is the ultimate purpose of all the skills, knowledge and experience we continue acquiring throughout the span of our lives? Of course, evolving and becoming better humans and more awakened versions of ourselves is one key aspect, but what’s even the purpose of that?
If we think about this for a moment while adopting a more selfless point of view, you will conclude that the most logical sequence after achieving personal and professional expansion and glory is to redirect those gifts towards others and share our blessings with them to attain peace & fulfilment.
You will ask me, what do you mean? And how do I do that? It’s very simple! The only one thing you need to be able to give others is to be “willing to share” with them regardless of what you decide to share eventually. Every one of us has a unique gift that we can share with the world, an innate talent or a remarkable contribution that can make someone smile, ignite hope in another person, or steer a certain individual towards his/her life purpose.
From my own humble experience, sharing your story with others is a great sign of confidence and courage. While a lot of people around us are just tipping toes carefully throughout their lives hoping to make it safely to death; others are here to live, share, inspire and impact. The first category seems to be missing the whole point and meaning of being alive, and that’s very unfortunate because imagine the waste of acquiring all sorts of developmental opportunities, experiences, and knowledge to ultimately keep it to yourself and take it with you to the grave!
These people understand life in a very shallow way or never got the chance to think about life in its broader context. It could also be that they are so much self-absorbed that they are not realizing that they are an integral part of this social fabric, and they can have an impact on others. The most rewarding way to create an impact in my view is to share stories.
The second category though, understand that having balance between what we gain versus what we give others is the best way to live a fulfilling life. There are many people who are in utmost need for the knowledge and information we have and can share to make their life easier, purposeful, and more rewarding. Our human and social responsibility towards others entails that we share stories and experiences of both our ups and downs to benefit others and build meaningful connections.
“Storytelling can empower, improve, and transform the lives of individuals and communities, both rural and urban” as mentioned by DubaiExpo2020 in one of their recent social media posts. It’s through stories, we can share the collective knowledge, skills, and experiences with others to inform, guide and inspire them, so that we can contribute in some way to enlighten and enrich their lives.
Whether you share your story by talking or writing in their various forms and shapes, know that you are one of the very few people on this earth who show their strength by first having the courage to be vulnerable and show their weaknesses for others to learn from. As someone rightly said: “Vulnerability is the only bridge to build connection with others”, and the medium is through stories.
So, this in my view, is the ultimate and the most noble way to utilize our lifelong acquired wisdom, by putting it into the service of others. As Winston Churchill rightly said: “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give”, money was it or stories!
As I always say; the only thing that you must not waste is “Time” and if you are on purpose, you will be able to utilize your time in the best possible way most of the time. Ready to start taking the right steps today?
